(Madrid).- The GGR for the quarter was € 304.26 million, with a decrease of -2.67% quarter over quarter and a rise of 23.60% year over year.

Regarding the rest of the main figures, deposits and withdrawals of the players, their variation rates were 11.87% and 8.07% year over year, and -0.45% and -2.92% quarter over quarter, respectively.

Marketing expenses has decreased -4.93% quarter over quarter and New accounts experiences an increase with respect to the previous quarter, 4.64%. Details are shown in Table 1.

In the analysis of the GGR by game segments, it is observed that:

The € 304.26 million of GGR is distributed as follows:  € 113.49 million in Betting (37.30%); € 3.64 million in Bingo (1.20%); € 160.26 million in Casino (52.67%); € 0.05 million in Contests (0.01%) and € 26.81 million in Poker (8.81%).

The betting segment has a variation rate of -14.86% quarter over quarter and 22.66% year over year. There is an decrease with respect to the previous quarter; pre-match, -31.70%; in-played sportsbook, -0.26%.  Horseracing fixed-odds fell -9.52% and other fixed-odds betting increased 46.08%.

Bingo has experienced a growth of 2.91% quarter over quarter and a slight decrease -0.95% year over year.

In the casino segment, there has been a rise of 6.94% quarter over quarter and an annual variation rate of 25.25%. Live roulette is the game with the highest increasing rate, 27.81%, follows by Slots, 25.94%, year over year. The quarter over quarter variation rates were: Black Jack, 11.47%; Slots, 8.09%; Live roulette, 5.43%; Conventional Roulette, -2.16%.

Contests experienced a fall of -68.37% quarter over quarter and a rise of 56.64% year over year. This segment continues an irregular behaviour with annual variation rates in the second quarter of 58.38% in 2020; -91% in 2021; -72.10% in 2022.

Poker presents an increase of 4.09% quarter over quarter and 22.03% year over year. Poker tournament had a variation rate of 3.37% quarter over quarter and 31.34% year over year. Poker cash has increased 6.12% compared to the previous quarter and has increased 2.06% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

As a summary, the percentage distribution of the GGR for the different segments in this quarter of the period from 2020 to 2023 is shown in Table 2.

Marketing expenses has been € 93.33 million for this quarter. It may be broken down into € 11.57 million affiliation expenses; € 0.87 million sponsorship; promotions € 47.68; and advertising € 33.20 million. Compared to the previous quarter, marketing expenses decrease -4.93% and a rise of 12.01% in annual variation. Quarter over quarter all concepts have decreased: Sponsorship, -28.64%; Affiliates, -8.66%; Advertising, -5.97%; Promotions, -2.62%. Nevertheless, the year over year variation rates are positive: Sponsorship, 153.04%; Affiliates, 15.96%; Promotions, 11.87%; Advertising, 9.31%. Promotions are broken down into cost of bonus included in prizes, € 12.28 million and cost of bonus not included in prizes, € 35.40 million.

The monthly average of active game accounts is 1,082,743; which implies a decline of -4.58% quarter over quarter and an increase of 10.61% year over year. The monthly average of the new game accounts is 107,570; with a growth of 4.64% quarter over quarter and 4.49% year over year.

For this quarter, there are 78 licensed operators and the number of active operators by segment is:

  • Betting: 42

  • Contests: 2
  • Poker: 9
